Who Am I?

My name is Marika Hart and I am a musculoskeletal physiotherapist with almost 20 years of clinical experience. My day job is working with pregnant and postnatal ladies, teaching them safe exercise and helping relieve all the lovely aches and pains that can plague mums and mums-to-be!
Having worked with hundreds of new mums, I can see the challenges that they face and the desire to get back to doing all the activities that they enjoyed before having kids. I also see the negative effects of doing aggressive exercises too early in the postpartum period and what can happen when women do not strategically strengthen and load their tissues.
What is this Postnatal Course?
It is a series of 6 videos outlining:
- early postnatal recovery
- why alignment and breathing matter
- what the pelvic floor is and signs when things aren’t working well
- what diastasis of rectus abdominis is and how you can check for it
- why nutrition, sleep and community are important in your recovery
- how to strategically plan your return to sport
- some exercise ideas for the gym!
